I'm a pianist, singer-songwriter, harmonica and dobro-guitar player. I was born on 30 April, 1978. My career started in 1993 after playing an entire concert with blues legend Junior Wells. I was 15 years old.My first inspiration was triggered by dutch blues and boogie godfather Rob Hoeke. I would play along with his albums when I was a kid and was greatly impressed by Rob’s “concrete” left hand and timing. Rob often invited me to sit in during his concerts. Still a teenager, I appeared in a television film for the VPRO meant to teach the viewer about the blues in a humorous way.In 1997, I accompanied USA blues diva Michelle Willson during her European tour. I recorded some tracks as a guest pianist for the CD 'Drip Drip' by bluesband Drippin' Honey that same year.Just 20 years old, I recorded and released the album 'Messin' With The Boogie' for the Serendip label. This was in 1998.I played the North Sea Jazz Festival twice and numerous times at the Rhythm&Bluesnight Oosterpoort. Other highlights were the Amsterdam Blues festival, Den Haag Heeft De Blues, The International Boogie Woogie Festivals Brussels and France, performances with Chris Jagger, Rosa King, Otis Grand, Dino Baptiste, Ruben Hoeke, Little Mack Simmons, Gijs Dijkhuizen, Bob Seeley, Harry Verbeke, Jean Paul Amouroux and many others. From 2007 until 2010 I hosted and produced my weekly blues radio show “Blauw Haarlem” (Blue Haarlem) for radio Haarlem105. For this show I interviewed David Honeyboy Edwards, Rory Block, John Hammond and Bill Wyman. More recently, I was featured on dutch TV show De Wereld Draait Door.![]() Hans De Bruijn photo 2009
